Play tournaments at a regional, national and international level.

How the pathway works

Every Hampshire junior starts in the same place — playing for fun at school or a club — and from there can progress as far as they want to go, right up to representing Hampshire and England at international level. Here's what each stage looks like:

1. I just play for fun — the fundamental of the game. Most players stay here, playing at school or with family and friends. If you want to progress from here, Hampshire Squash has plenty of options.
2. Hampshire tournaments — starter events run within the county, including the Hampshire Junior Leagues, the junior County Closed (entry level, every September), the monthly Winchester Grand Prix series, and Hampshire School games.
3. England Squash events — enter any sanctioned tournament and apply to England Squash to get a national ranking. Copper tournaments are entry level, Bronze are more challenging local events, and Silver events are regional, bringing together the best players from the South. 4. County squash — joining a Hampshire county squad gives you the chance to train with the county's best players and access to elite coaching, plus the opportunity to represent Hampshire at the Inter County Championships.
5. National squash — Hampshire's best players are invited onto the Aspire programme to compete for the South of England, and can enter Gold level England Squash events, including the English and British Junior Championships.
6. International squash — the British Junior Open is a platinum-level event and one of the most prestigious junior tournaments in the world. Every year, the best Hampshire juniors who make the grade go on to compete.
